Dietary Desires
Maddie has rejected perfectly yummy cheese, sweet potatoes, strawberries and sugar cookies. Here’s what she REALLY likes…
A high performance endurance athlete
Christina trained all summer for the Malibu Triathlon, which took place this past weekend. I’m very proud to say that she completely rocked it as Mads and I rooted her on. Nina and Val both made the trip out and kicked ass as well. C’s time was just over two hours- not too shabby. The event included a .5 mile swim, 18 mile bike and a 4 mile run. Being in Malibu and all, there were loads of celebrities taking part, and the event organizers promoted their participation to no end. But C left all those celebrity weaklings with their personal trainer entourages in the dust. Congrats Christina!!
- Looking really strong on the new bike
- Maddie and I got a little bored at times

Sling Dongs
I thought George and I were reasonably intelligent people until we tried using baby slings. When the simpler HotSling (courtesy of Paul & Teddy) seemed too tight for G, we got him a Moby sling. Hoo boy! A Moby Sling is a 15′ piece of fabric that is meant to be twisted & tied all over a person’s shoulders, back, midriff etc. and which will then magically, secure a squirmy infant to the wearer. After struggling with the instruction manual for a few days we finally had to watch a how-to video on You Tube. We’re STILL not confident in our slinging abilities.

Tuesday was a rough day for me (Christina). It was my second day on my own with the baby (Jack & Patsy left on Monday) and she slept only about 1 hour on my chest while I watched “The Color Purple”. Otherwise, she sweated, squirmed, strained, shat, shrieked, & screamed. (Yes, shrieking & screaming are two different activities.) My nerves were shot and I more than looked forward to my nightly thimble-ful of red wine. By the time George got home, I was desperate enough to try the HotSling again. This time it worked!!
After all is said and done we will probably use the Baby Bjorn Meghan sent us. Neither one of us wants to go back for a doctorate in baby wearing.

Maddie’s Got Talent
We’d heard about this but nothing can prepare you for the experience. On Sunday, I changed Maddie’s diaper when she filled it again (and I’m not talking #1), mid change. I threw out the second diaper and was starting on the third when a fire hose stream of (also NOT #1) “activity” was dispensed forcefully through the air, spraying across the blinds, the screen, and down the wall. Hoo boy!! As I was replacing the third diaper with a fourth, she sent out a merry toot. Seems she is taking after her father in more ways than one. Sorry – no pictures but you should thank me for that. Here are some pix of L.P. instead.
Belly Casting
So Christina and I made a cast of her Ginormous belly on Sunday. The instructions said it takes 5 minutes. It was more like 5 hours. It was a long time on our feet and it hurt. I have new respect for artists. I had just gotten back from a four hour mountain bike ride and she’s, well, pregnant. So we have vowed never to do it again. But the results are pretty sweet. See for yourself:
