Funny Faces

Who says TV isn’t educational? Maddie learned these faces after watching “Yo Gabba Gabba” 5,000,000 times.

Counting

Maddie can count (with a little help)

Pin-t!

Maddie likes to use a pin’t (what you call a pen.) Only she likes to use it anywhere but on paper. Auto-tattooing ranks high on her list of fave spots.

Memorial Day Weekend

We thought taking Maddie & Root Beer up to The Capri Hotel in Ojai was a no brainer: warm weather, a grass dog yard, two pools, what more could you want? WRONG. Maddie found the unheated pool to be too “hot,” the crib apparently uncomfortable. Why else would she awake shrieking every 15 minutes? Maddie can’t be blamed for everything as the weekend started out rough when G worked from about 10AM Friday until 5:30AM Saturday. Let’s just say he wasn’t in tip top shape for the trip.

Mean Ol’ Ducks!

We took Maddie and some friends to the Dino Fair last weekend. She met a mean duck in the petting zoo. I don’t blame that duck though – they were in that little pen for 5 hours being petted to within an inch of their lives by kids. Agh! Maddie doesn’t forgive OR forget.

How does that Bunny lay eggs?

We had a little egg hunt at our new place this morning.

Valentine’s Weekend

We always go to Cayucos for Valentine’s weekend because Valentine’s Day was our first date – to see Dwight Yoakam in Orange County. What a date! Complete with a beer bottle flying through the air, blood and an ambulance. Anyway, this year it was a little different as my brother, Andrew, was in town. We decided to meet up with my dad too. The weather was hot & sunny.

Sleddin’ Baldy Style

We headed up to Mt. Baldy a few weeks ago with our $6.99 yellow saucer (Made in China), Robert, Katarina, Aston & Root Beer. 1.5 hours of driving, and a couple more hours later (for a wreck to be cleared off the single lane mountain road), we were on our way to the half melted icy “snow” leftover. No matter! The babies, never having seen snow before, were totally impressed and had a great time! Oh, and I learned a lesson, not to be too tight with the sled money since the saucer snapped in half on our first run when we passed ever so lightly over a ROCK.

These squeaking shoes were made for walking

So Maddie has been threatening to walk since October, but it turns out she is a very cautious child and has pretty much insisted on holding the hand of Mom and/or Dad before even thinking about walking across the room.  So after a few months, she has finally decided that her parent’s backs hurt bad enough, and she is now walking on her own!  I guess the lure of chasing Root Beer across the room so that she could get a better angle for throwing things at him was too much.  Here’s a short video of her new found skill.
